Traditional Cremation Ceremony
This is usually around 30-40minutes long, although it is possible to book a double slot. With this type of funeral the coffin arrives at the crematorium and is placed on the catafalque at the front of the chapel. The service itself can be structured and traditional in style or can be more flexible with music, stories and readings. At the end of the service the coffin remains in the chapel and is then taken to be cremated. A few days later the ashes are returned to the family.
Burial Ceremony
The burial service can be similar in structure to cremation with the burial taking place directly after the service.
Celebration of Life Ceremony
Depending upon venue, (hotel, village hall, etc) the burial/cremation may take place first and be followed by a celebration of life afterwards. These types of ceremonies
tend to be a lot more flexible and informal and often combine the wake. There also tends to be less time constraints. The service may involve poems, music, video tributes and stories. Celebration of life ceremonies are becoming more popular following the increase in popularity of direct cremations since it is a way of the family to say their own goodbyes in their own way.
Natural Burial
This will take place at a dedicated site for the burial and locations are usually areas of natural beauty or environmentally protected areas. The service will usually take place at the graveside and may continue at a different venue since most natural burials take place in the open air. There is a lot of flexibility in terms of content and may include music, readings poems and stories.
Scattering or Interment of Ashes
Following cremation the ashes are returned to the family. The family then have a few choices as to have a scattering or interment of the ashes or to keep the ashes in a casket. Having a few of the ashes incorporated into jewellery is becoming popular nowadays. Interment of ashes involves buying a burial plot and then during the service the casket of ashes is placed in the burial plot. Scattering of ashes is much more varied and ashes can be scattered almost anywhere. The ashes are either scattered on the ground, or in water, or are scattered into the air.

Before the service
Following your initial enquiry, we will discuss your wishes. We will talk about your loved one so that I can create a service that truly reflects the person they were. We will talk about the type of service you would like. Every service I write is unique to that family.
I will keep in regular touch with you and will send though drafts of the eulogy and wording of the service for you to approve and am happy to make changes and modifications up to 24 hours before the service.

During the service
I will arrive at the venue at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time of the service. I will introduce myself to the venue staff and will check the music and audio system.
I will then wait at the entrance for your arrival. I will come and speak to you and check that anyone who has planned to come forward to speak is still feeling ok to do so. (Even during the service I can
seamlessly step in if someone feels too emotional to speak). At the end of the service I will be around for a short while to offer support to you, the family and any other mourners.

Support after
A few days after the service I will phone you to arrange a visit to see how you are and to see if there is anything else you would like me to do (eg scattering of ashes)
I will also gift you a folder containing a presentation copy of the service
I will also offer the support of the bereavement groups I run should you like to come along.
